More practice with practice rounds
Simbound is excited to announce the launch of simulation practice rounds! This new feature was requested by our user community and is now available to all academic customers.
We've finished planning, developing, and testing, so it's time to show off a much-anticipated feature. We're excited to announce simulation practice rounds! We're happy to respond to recent suggestions from our community with a new and extensive feature that's available to all existing Simbound academic app users.
Practice Rounds are Live
It is now possible for instructors to add one or two simulation practice rounds, which can be scheduled in advance of the actual simulation rounds. This addition was requested by several tutors who wished to provide students with a quick and easy introduction to the simulation. It also forms part of our wider effort to construct high-performance pedagogical tools that are aligned to emerging standards in educational technology design. This addition is designed to enhance the learning experience, reduce initial student queries, and support more effective course management.
What happened before practice rounds were available?
Before we delve into the specifics of practice rounds, it is beneficial to understand the traditional approach instructors employed in the past. To provide students with some practice, a few simulation rounds were played. Once those rounds were completed, the instructors reset them. This was an effective method, although it occasionally caused confusion among students who did not receive the satisfaction of seeing their simulation progress in a linear manner.
Some of the more experienced professors and teaching assistants also utilized the preview function as a complementary method. For those who have recently joined us and may have missed this past release, the preview option allows a student team to view a selection of their future results well ahead of a round deadline. The preview option will continue to be available as an optional feature in both the team and single user mode of play. It can be used alongside practice rounds for a comprehensive pre-simulation activity with minimal risk.
How Practice Rounds Work
We're so excited to announce that effective today, both students and instructors will finally have some peace of mind! You can now rest assured that the results you obtain in the practice rounds will not count towards the final set of results. So, go ahead and make a mistake and get away with it! That's what the practice round is there for.
Just a heads-up: The simulation will generate some operational and financial figures during the practice rounds. These will be saved and stored in a separate report at the end of either one or two practice rounds. The instructor can then review them later. This will help assess how teams did in the practice stage and how they'll do in the real rounds.
So, what happens to the work done by students during a practice round you're asking? Well, read on to find out, but first, why not take a quick break to read some quick Zen wisdom?
"In studying the way, realizing it is hard; once you have realized it, preserving it is hard. When you can preserve it, putting it into practice is hard" ~ Zen Proverb
Students' decisions will be available before the real rounds. If students have been working hard since day 1 and created thoughtful webpages and search advertising campaigns, they will be rewarded in the actual rounds.
The practice round addition is anticipated to extend the lifespan of the Simbound learning experience, reduce the number of queries posed by students at the outset of the simulation, and permit courses to commence in a less risky environment. This is because the results generated in the simulation during a practice round will not be aggregated with the final set of results. There are numerous advantages to using them.
We are confident that you will find the new practice round functionality useful and that it will result in more effective course management and a higher level of satisfaction among users of the Simbound suite of course management and simulation tools.
In conclusion
We will continue to prioritize high-availability and scalability as we work to enhance Simbound and its delivery to some of the top educational institutions. We will continue to prioritize your feedback and suggestions as we work to enhance our offerings. Our goal is to remain at the forefront of digital marketing pedagogy, consistently introducing new and innovative approaches to meet the evolving needs of our clients.
