My journey with Simbound has been a unique and deeply rewarding experience—one that has allowed me to view the same platform through two very different, yet equally valuable, lenses: first as a student, and later as an instructor. This dual perspective has not only enriched my understanding of digital marketing education but has also reshaped how I approach teaching, learning, and engagement in the classroom.

As a student at the University of Leeds, my initial interaction with Simbound was both exciting and challenging. Unlike traditional theoretical courses, Simbound immediately immersed me in a dynamic, decision-driven environment. I was not just learning about concepts, I was actively applying them. Every decision I made, from keyword selection to campaign budgeting, had direct consequences on performance. This hands-on approach transformed abstract concepts into tangible outcomes, making the learning process far more engaging and memorable.

What stood out most during my time as a student was the sense of ownership. Simbound created a space where I was responsible for my strategy, my mistakes, and my successes. Unlike exams, there was no single “correct” answer. Instead, there were multiple paths to success, each shaped by experimentation, analysis, and adaptation. This fostered a mindset of continuous improvement and critical thinking, skills that are essential in real-world marketing but often underdeveloped in traditional academic settings. Over time, I developed not only technical skills but also strategic thinking and patience.

Transitioning from a student to an instructor at Philadelphia University of Jordan using Simbound was a transformative experience. It allowed me to revisit the platform with a completely new perspective—one focused on guiding others rather than navigating it myself.

What I once experienced as a learner, I now observe in my students: the initial confusion, the gradual understanding, and eventually, the confidence that comes with mastery.

Since my initial experience with Simbound as a student, the platform has evolved to offer a more intuitive interface and a learning environment that reflects real-world digital marketing complexity. The simulation now emphasises strategic decision-making rather than basic functionality, enhancing its educational value. In the classroom, student engagement has also progressed after each round. Questions have shifted from operational (“how to use the tool”) to analytical and strategic (“why did performance change” and “how can results be optimised”). This indicates deeper critical thinking and stronger application of marketing concepts.

As an instructor, I began to appreciate the platform’s design more deeply. Simbound is not just a simulation tool; it is a structured learning ecosystem. Each feature, from campaign management to performance analytics, is intentionally designed to support experiential learning. My role shifted from simply delivering content to facilitating discovery. Instead of telling students what works, I encouraged them to test, fail, and learn from their own data—just as I had done. There is a noticeable shift in how students engage with the material. They move from passive listeners to active participants, asking more questions, exploring different strategies, and taking initiative in their learning. The platform naturally encourages collaboration and discussion, as students compare results and share insights. My own experience as a student helped me anticipate these challenges and support my students more effectively.

Comparing both experiences, I can confidently say that each role complements the other. As a student, I gained a firsthand understanding of the platform’s challenges and benefits. As an instructor, I learned how to translate that experience into meaningful guidance for others. Moreover, this journey has reinforced my belief in experiential learning as a powerful educational method. Platforms like Simbound bridge the gap between theory and practice, preparing students for real-world challenges in ways traditional methods often cannot. They create an environment where learning is not just about memorisation but about application, reflection, and growth.

Overall, Simbound facilitates experiential learning by linking theory to practice. It enables students to interpret data, justify decisions, and develop skills aligned with industry expectations. I am grateful for the opportunity to have experienced Simbound from both sides. It has not only enhanced my skills but also deepened my appreciation for innovative teaching tools. My journey with Simbound is one I am proud of, and I look forward to continuing to explore its potential in shaping future learning experiences.
